About the event
We are looking for work that relates to the rich Queen Anne neighborhood and can create a point of curiosity for pedestrians passing by. Landscapes, abstracts, geometric forms, graphic or ornamental designs are preferred. Figurative work and political statements will be excluded.
This request for qualifications is open to all artists working in or connected to Seattle and the northwest. The final deliverable by the artist(s) will be a full design that is approved by the project stakeholders and executable for large scale printing (not seeking direct-applied murals). Any form of 2D visual art is welcome to apply – Digital design, images of work on paper, painting, photography, etc. Further details for design & coordination such as exact sizes will be provided to the artist finalists.
Artist finalists will be selected with a stipend of $500 to develop a preliminary concept proposal per mural location. The proposals will be discussed by a committee of stakeholders, and the mural designs to be developed fully will be selected through this process.
The Artists with the selected designs will receive between $1,500 – $2,500 per mural based on complexity of location to finalize the design or designs, depending on location, and work with the committee on bringing the mural to installation. The final design fee for the stair murals will be discussed upon selection of a finalist.
