About the event
Since 2021, L’AiR Arts Association has been spearheading a cultural heritage project to transition a historic artist studio in Paris into an International Arts Research Residency dedicated to intercultural exchange.
Established in the 1875 as an artist-led initiative, Cité Falguière has served as a working and living place to more than a hundred French and international artists, including world-renowned Amedeo Modigliani, Chaïm Soutine, Tsuguharu Foujita, Constantin Brancusi, and Paul Gauguin. To continue this artistic heritage within contemporary culture, the last surviving studio of Cité Falguière - Atelier 11 continues to welcome artists and cultural professionals as an International Arts Research Residency. Preserving the living heritage of the École de Paris as a historic hub for intercultural artistic exchange, the aim of this project is to celebrate the significance of Cité Falguière as the world's longest-running international residency that accepted and nurtured artists throughout three centuries.
