About the event

Transform your passion for film into practice by curating, marketing and delivering the Chronic Youth film festival at the Barbican. As a Young Film Programmer, you will be equipped with the skills to put on film events, find out exactly what it takes to create your own cinema event and spend quality time with a group of people who are as enthusiastic about film as you are. During the course, you are required to watch many films from around the world, widening and honing your tastes and acquiring programming skills, moving on to collectively programme, market and deliver Chronic Youth film events in our cinemas.

Young Film Programmers is a programme aimed at 16 to 25-year-olds who are passionate about film and eager to dive into the world of programming. You must be a Young Barbican member to participate. It’s free to join.

This program offers a comprehensive and immersive experience in film curation and event management, providing valuable knowledge and practical skills. It is a chance to work collaboratively with fellow group members and receive support from the Barbican to curate an exciting series of film events. Additionally, you will have the chance to organize and host these screenings, actively contributing to the overall festival experience. You will be involved in marketing efforts to promote the screenings, allowing you to enhance your skills in this area.
