Introduction: The "Outsiders" art competition challenges artists to explore the experiences of those on society's periphery. Whether capturing the emotions of isolation or resilience, questioning societal norms, or celebrating unique perspectives, participants are prompted to reflect on inclusion and provoke conversations about acceptance. The competition aims to provide a platform for artists to share diverse visual narratives, fostering empathy and understanding for the richness of human experiences.

Competition Details:

Theme: "Outsiders"

Eligibility: Open to all artists internationally. Work must pertain to the theme (details below) with no restrictions on medium or style.

Submission Deadline: January 29, 2024

Entry Fee: There is no fee to enter. Only artists who are selected as finalists must pay the $45 (USD) participation fee.

Prizes:

1. First Place: $300 - $1,000 cash prize
2. Second Place: $100 - $200 cash prize
3. Third Place: $50 cash prize

HOW TO ENTER:

Submit work via email including the following:

1. Up to 10 images of your work (JPG/JPEG files only. NO zip folders, PDFs, or google drives)
2. Info for each work in the following format: Your Name, Artwork Title, Medium, Dimensions, Date, Price (if for sale)
3. Optional Artist Statement and Bio

All awards will be distributed via PayPal. You must have a PayPal account in order to collect an award for this competition.

THEME:

The theme "Outsiders" invites artists to explore and interpret the concept of individuals or groups existing on the fringes or margins of society. This theme encourages participants to delve into the rich and complex narratives surrounding those who often find themselves outside the mainstream, be it due to cultural differences, unconventional lifestyles, or societal biases.

Artists can approach the theme from various perspectives, using a wide range of mediums and styles. They may choose to focus on the emotional and psychological aspects of being an outsider, capturing the feelings of isolation, alienation, or resilience. Alternatively, artists might explore the resilience and strength that can emerge from being on the periphery, highlighting the unique perspectives and contributions that outsiders bring to society.

The theme also encourages a reflection on the societal norms and expectations that define who is considered an "insider" and who is marginalized. Artists may choose to challenge these norms, question stereotypes, and provoke thoughtful conversations about inclusion and acceptance.
