About the event

Open Call for Artists We invite artists from around the world to participate in our upcoming exhibition on the theme of "Perception." This open invitation seeks to show different interpretations and perspectives on how we perceive the world around us. Through various forms of visual and conceptual expression, we aim to explore the multifaceted nature of perception, challenging conventional notions and broadening our understanding and approach to life.

Before applying, carefully read and follow the guidelines before filling out the application form below.

​ ​ Eligibility

All visual artists over the age of 18 from all artistic disciplines, regardless of medium or style, are invited to apply for our international open call. Images must be original artwork created by the artist and not copies of previously existing works. Each artist or collective can only apply once; subsequent applications will not be considered.

All submissions received in any other way than the following form will be ignored. Participation is free; only the selected artists will be charged a fee to partially cover the awards (list below). Selected artists are free to accept or refuse the fee and consequently the participation.

How to apply

In the form below, you will be asked to attach the following documents:

- 1 image of one of your artworks

- Artwork information

- Short biography

- Artistic statement

Submitting Images

- Artwork images should be labeled as: First Name_Last Name_Title of Art

- Image size should be up to 3.0 MB in JPG format

- Only the artwork should be visible, clear and in focus. Please crop out any background in the images or trademark

- Images must be original work created by the artist

Judging Criteria

The artwork will be judged based on the following criteria: originality, quality, inventiveness, theme interpretation, overall design, creative ability displayed, and media selection. The decision is determined by our internal curatorial staff with the assistance of outside specialists, and it is final and unquestionable. Based on the quality of each applicant's individual submission as well as the quality of their overall artistic practice, a shortlist of the best artworks will be created.

Awards

The selected artists will participate in the Imagination group exhibition, get a certificate of participation, and get individual promotion on our website, on social media, in our newsletter, and through our community of collectors, curators, and art enthusiasts from across the world. The chosen artists will also have the chance to participate in other initiatives, such as having their biography and other works of art published in a catalogue, having a personal interview posted on our platforms, and receiving a proposal for a long-term partnership with our gallery.

All the services listed above will be carried out upon a fee which will be applied only to selected artists in order to partially cover the cost.

Copyright

The terms and conditions between the artist and Florence Contemporary Gallery are outlined in this Agreement. All artists who wish to enter any competition must consent to the following before submitting their work:

Florence Contemporary Gallery will only use your images for marketing, promotional, and display purposes for any competition on our website. All artists will be considered for any future curatorial projects from Florence Contemporary, including publications, exhibitions, and gallery projects (all displayed images will be credited with their artist name). As part of the exhibition, you, the artist, provide permission for Florence Contemporary Gallery to archive the selected piece. No images will be swapped, sold, or copied. By taking part in the call, the participant implicitly agrees to all the aforementioned terms.
