FREE ENTRY / Island Library of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria - The International Illustrated Album Contest

The International Illustrated Album Contest promoted by the Island Library of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, was launched in 2005, with Edelvives being in charge of publishing the award for six consecutive years.

After five years without being convened, the International Illustrated Album Competition promoted by the Island Library of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, is launched again with the close collaboration of the Catalan publishing house 'A Buen Paso', which the writer and Italian editor Arianna Squilloni. Since then, the aforementioned publishing house has been publishing children's and young people's books, currently having an extensive catalog whose titles include 'Tattooed Dad', by Daniel Nesquens and Sergio Mora, 'What a Freshly Cut Head Thinks About', by Juan Carlos Quezadas and Carla Besora, 'Amiga gallina', by Juan Arjona or 'You have a white dress', illustrated by Arianne Faber with texts by the Chilean María José Ferrada.

All persons, writers and illustrators of legal age who, without distinction of their place of origin or residence, present a work in the Spanish language, will be eligible for the International Contest for the “Illustrated Album of the Gran Canaria Island Library”. The staff of the publishing house “A Buen Paso” (hereinafter ABP) and the Department of Culture of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria (hereinafter CGC) are excluded. The winners of the previous edition will not be eligible for the prize of the next two editions.

The contest is one of the best in its category in the field of Hispanic literature, with a prize of 11,000 euros for the winner of the only prize, to which writers or illustrators who, without a place of origin or residence, wish to present yourself with an unpublished book album in Spanish, based on an original narrative and visual conception, composed of text and images or exclusively of images.
