About the event
Olbrich Botanical Gardens invites proposals for the ninth annual GLEAM, Art in a New Light, a public art exhibition featuring large-scale light-based installations, situated within the Gardens’ landscape. Over 30,000 guests delight in the wonder of this outdoor exhibit during special evening hours in September - October.
GLEAM features 8-10 installations with a goal of illuminating as much of the 16-acres gardens and 10,000 sq ft indoor conservatory as possible. Light must be utilized as the major component to achieve a dynamic nighttime presence.
For the 2024 exhibition, special consideration will be given to -
- Interactive experiences
- Site specific engagement
- Botanically inspired or entomology focused concepts
- Large-scale UV murals
- Augmented reality - as an installation feature
- Community collaboration component Olbrich Botanical Gardens is located in Madison, Wisconsin. The 16 acres of gardens and tropical Bolz Conservatory are owned and operated jointly by the City of Madison Parks and the non-profit Olbrich Botanical Society. Exhibit proceeds directly support the mission and daily operations of Olbrich Botanical Gardens.
