FREE ENTRY / RSA - Blackadder Houston Mid-Career Painting

The RSA Blackadder Houston Mid-Career Painting Award (£20,000) provides an extensive development and production opportunity for a fine art painter.

EThis opportunity is tailored to mid-career painters who boast a minimum of 15 years of practice since completing art school or demonstrate at least 15 years of substantive experience. Please note that this award is not applicable to students. Your predominant artistic practice should revolve around painting, spanning various mediums and subjects. Additionally, applicants should have been born in or currently reside in Scotland (for at least 3 consecutive years). If successful, selected individuals must commit themselves entirely to painting for up to 26 weeks, which may involve taking a sabbatical from work or temporarily pausing caregiving responsibilities.

The aim of this £20,000 award is to enable a committed painter to devote themselves exclusively to painting for a period of time of up to 26 weeks, which they would otherwise not be able to do, due to other commitments such as employment or caring responsibilities.
