About the event
The prize is made possible by the estate of the important Osnabrück artist Hiltrud Schäfer.
During her lifetime, Hiltrud Schäfer was committed not only to her own artistic practice, but also to the training and promotion of artists, and thus the Hiltrud Schäfer Art Prize continues this tradition.
The prize is awarded through an open application process. All artists and collectives who live and work in the cultural area of Osnabrück, Münster, Bielefeld, Bremen and Hanover are eligible to take part .
There are no age, education or other application restrictions.
The content of the application is a spatial concept for an exhibition in the sculpture gallery or the nave of the Kunsthalle Osnabrück.
The permitted media are sculpture, painting, drawing, installation and performance.
Only one work/series may be submitted for the application.
The submitted work/series can be a new production or an existing work that is no older than three years.
From the applications, a jury of experts will award 2-5 submissions with the Hiltrud Schäfer Prize.
A total prize money of 10,000 euros is available for the winners, which will be divided equally among the winners.
The winners' works will be exhibited in a prize-winners' exhibition in the skulptur-galerie and the Kunsthalle Osnabrück from March 1, 2025 to March 31, 2025.
