About the event
We are looking for proposals from curators, artists, makers and performers to exhibit in our project space as part of a supported programme of events presented by Staffordshire St.
We want to support artists at all stages of their career and will select proposals from this Open Call to deliver a 3-4 week project in our gallery space alongside the rest of our programme in 2024.
We are looking for exhibitions that will engage with our audiences both in the artistic and local community. We highly encourage a cross-disciplinary approach through collaboration with partners to run events alongside or as part of the project to encourage engagement. Our programme encompasses workshops, film nights, panel discussions, supper clubs, scratch nights, music and more.
We want to exhibit a wide variety of projects and we will be looking for submissions that put forward strong discursive concepts as well as demonstrate quality and capability to execute the proposal. We particularly welcome proposals from people from underrepresented or non-traditional art backgrounds so we can platform ideas from a range of voices.
Staffordshire St is a Community Interest Company based in Peckham, South East London. We aim to develop the programme with an artist-led approach to build a platform where innovative ideas can be discussed and emerging voices are heard, to reach a wider audience and build communities. Staffordshire St is not-for-profit and all income is invested into developing our programme.
The Main Gallery has white walls, wooden floor boards, a 3.4m high ceiling and 1500 sqft of floor space. Built in 1833 as a Methodist Hall, the venue still retains some of its original features of large paned windows on the facade of the building and the six pillars that frame the space.
If you would like to visit the gallery space please see our website for exhibition programme and opening times for each show. Register here for a zoom Q&A. Thursday 28th September 1-2pm.
