Gallery 456 / Chinese American Arts Council - Call for artists 2024

Gallery 456 and the Chinese American Arts Council is extending an open call to contemporary artists of all mediums to exhibit their work in Gallery 456, with an emphasis on art that reflects or engages with Chinese and/or Asian heritage.

Gallery 456 offers both emerging and established artists from various backgrounds and disciplines a space to showcase their work. Operated by the Chinese American Arts Council in Soho, New York, Gallery 456 hosts over 10 contemporary art exhibitions annually.

In 2024, we would like to offer this opportunity to one artist with our open call. The selected artist will showcase their work in a two-week solo exhibition on February 23-March 9. Artists age 18 and up from all backgrounds and nationalities are welcome to apply.

Chinese American Arts Council (CAAC) is a non-profit organization established in 1975 to meet the cultural needs of the expanding Chinese community in New York City. Nowadays, CAAC has broadened its goals in serving the Asian diasporic community in New York City and beyond. As a hub for cultural exchange, we strive to provide a wide variety of programming including traditional and contemporary performance, dance, theater, film, folk art, and fine art exhibitions.

Open call timeline:

Submission Deadline: Nov 3rd, 2023 Notification Date: by Nov 24th, 2023 Exhibition Date: February 23-March 9.

Submission details:

-Submission method: Email us at info@caacarts.org. -Submission materials: Selected work images (72 dpi, 1MB max for each image), a link to your website (if any), CV/Resume, artist statement, simple bio, and any other supporting materials (e.g. video statement, artist portfolio). -Fee: $25 USD. Please send via Paypal to paypal.me/caacarts, and attach your payment confirmation in your submission as well. We will send you a confirmation of submission upon receiving it. You may also choose to pay the submission fee via mail, by sending us a check payable to: Chinese American Arts Council. -For mailing a check, please mail the check to: Chinese American Arts Council 456 Broadway 3rd floor New York, NY 10013 -Please email info@caacarts.org if the submission fee poses a financial difficulty. -Our gallery floorplan can be viewed here. If your proposal is selected:
