About the event

The LandesMuseum owns impressive examples such as "Kohlenmann (The Coal Man)" and "Sitzendes Mädchen (Seated Girl)". After the war, Breuer developed a particular abstract geometric art that stood apart from the concrete objective style. In later years, at the end of the 1960s and in the 1970s, he was to immerse himself in works dealing with kinetic Op-Art. In addition to his work as an artist, an intensive exchange with other artist colleagues and friends was always important to Leo Breuer. To ensure that the work of this important artist is not forgotten, for the past 12 years, in close cooperation with Leo Breuer's son Jacques Breuer and more recently, with the added cooperation of the Gesellschaft für Kunst und Gestaltung (Society of Art and Design) in Bonn, the LVR has awarded the Leo Breuer Preis for Art about every two years.
