About the event
Applications are welcome from individuals as well as teams, collectives, and collaborators. Proposed projects should aim to address and prompt discussion on experiences of race, ethnicity, identity, and justice in Albany by inviting openness, exchange, and a Entries must have been completed within the last five years and NOT previously exhibited in prior BWS Mid-Atlantic exhibitions. Works must be watermedia paintings on natural or synthetic paper, paperboard, clayboard, or equivalent. Paper may be mounted to a rigid smooth substrate using archival materials. No canvas. No side of the painting visible within the mat can be less than 10 inches. Frames must not exceed 48” in either height or width. Proposals in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, the Stop Asian Hate movement, Indigenous rights and recognition, and other movements centered on diversity, equity, and inclusion are strongly encouraged. The artist should consider working with various constituencies (youth/students, civic leaders, seniors, community groups, public agencies, etc.) for the purpose of informing and collaborating on the production of the artwork, broadly conceived.
