Baroque Blue Ionian SeArt Residency is an art project signed by Primo Piano LivinGallery that sees protagonists in each edition, artists, poets, writers, performers, filmmakers, musicians, and their Art Curator Dores Sacquegna, in one of the most beautiful places in Salento: Santa Caterina di Nardò and Porto Selvaggio Regional Park Reserve in Apulia’s region, Italy.  Curator role is to help artists, encourage and stimulate new productions.

Participants of all ages and backgrounds are called to live a unique experience, in close contact with the NATURE and the CULTURE of the place, getting to know the millenary history and GENIUS LOCI of Salento and enabled to produce artworks site-specific and site-inspired by inputs received. At the end of the residency, the works produced are exhibited in situ during the final day, with party, banquets, projections and a group  Thanksgiving Ceremony.

The theme – There is a symbol that tells the millenary history of Salento: it is the pictogram of the DANCING SHAMAN found in the Neolithic Cervi Grotto in Porto Badisco, defined as the Sistine Chapel of Europe for its numerous and best preserved graffiti. The cave was discovered in 1970 by a speleological group and was initially called Aeneas’ s Grotto, because of the legend that narrates the landing of the Heroes after his escape from Troy and written in the third book of the Aeneid.

Shamanism is the oldest form of spiritual and healing practice that through nature, connects human beings with all natural beings in harmony and balance with natural laws. Common to almost all traditional shamanic cultures is the VISION of spiritual reality divided into three worlds: the Lower World, the Middle World and the Upper World. These three superimposed worlds are connected to each other by the COSMIC TREE that the SHAMAN-ARTIST can use to make a journey into the past and a return to the present, with the creation of poems, sound, performance and site-specific and site inspired contemporary artworks… accompanied by her GUIDE-CURATOR.

3. The Upper World ( from 24 August to 05 September)-Deadline 31 May 2024

Mission – Primo Piano’s mission is to provide artists with a variety of stimulating experiences with which they can conceive new projects or deepen established creative practices.
