In 2013, Apila Ediciones established the Apila First Impression Award, a prestigious initiative designed specifically to provide talented illustrators who have yet to publish a work with an ISBN—aside from self-published projects—the invaluable opportunity to bring their first professional album to life. This award was created with the intention of nurturing new artistic talent and giving emerging illustrators the platform they need to showcase their creativity and skills in a professional setting.
Since the inception of the Apila Awards, we have witnessed a remarkable transformation in the careers of many of our winners. Almost all of them have successfully made the transition into the professional world of illustration, significantly enhancing their visibility and career prospects within the industry. This journey from aspiring artist to recognized professional is a testament to the impact that the Apila First Impression Award can have on budding illustrators.
