“Faust/Vizual” is a prestigious international competition that invites submissions in the form of graphic posters, animated works, or other innovative visual interpretations inspired by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s legendary literary masterpiece, Faust—a cornerstone of European cultural heritage.

This unique artistic initiative is organized by the Wanda Siemaszkowa Theatre in Rzeszów in collaboration with the Chair of Graphic Design at the University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów. Together, they extend an invitation to emerging artists and designers from around the world to engage creatively and critically with this timeless text.

The competition encourages participants to go beyond traditional poster design. It welcomes animated pieces and experimental graphic formats that challenge convention and reimagine the themes, characters, and moral complexities found within Faust. The goal is to foster a fresh visual dialogue between classic literature and the dynamic tools of contemporary visual expression.

“Faust/Vizual” forms an essential part of the broader “CLASSICS 3.0” project, a cultural initiative dedicated to reviving and redefining canonical works through modern artistic mediums. By confronting classic texts with present-day creative technologies, the project seeks to bridge past and present, and invite new generations to participate in the ongoing cultural conversation surrounding the classics.
