The Graphic Arts Biennale, established in 1999, serves as an important cyclical event, providing a platform for young artists working in the graphic arts to showcase their creativity. Over the years, the Biennale has evolved, with significant changes occurring in 2019 when the competition introduced thematic areas designed to highlight alternative values and encourage a dialogue with contemporary culture and everyday life. This shift reflects the changing landscape of modern art, particularly the rise of post-artistic activities such as 1:1 art, utilitarian art, and material realism, as well as the increasing relevance of graphic arts in social activism.

In 2025, the 14th edition of the Graphic Arts Biennale will take place in Poznań, focusing on the theme of IMPORT/EXPORT. This theme addresses the imbalance between core and peripheral countries and explores how this hierarchy leads to cultural self-colonization. By examining the exchange of artistic phenomena between countries, the theme highlights the role of cultural import and export in shaping contemporary artistic practices and sustaining global divisions.
