Eligible WorksThis international printmaking award is open to artists working across all printmaking disciplines, embracing both traditional and contemporary practices. In addition to techniques such as etching, engraving, lithography, screen printing, and relief printing, submissions in digital print and monotype formats are also welcomed. The objective is to provide a platform that reflects the full range of technical and conceptual possibilities within the field of graphic arts today.
The overarching theme for this edition is “The Sea and the Lighthouses.” While this theme serves as a point of inspiration, it is not prescriptive. Artists are encouraged to interpret the theme freely, whether through representational or abstract approaches. All aesthetic languages are valid—from the purely figurative to the highly conceptual.
Format Requirements
The printed image and the paper on which it appears must not exceed 20 x 20 cm in size.
There is no required minimum size for either the image or the paper.
Submitted works must be unframed and presented without mats, glass, or stretchers.
Each artist may submit a maximum of three pieces, with all entries covered under a single participation fee.
Jury and Award Selection ProcessThe selection of the award recipients will be conducted by a panel of three distinguished guest jurors, each with recognized expertise in the field of contemporary printmaking. The jury will meet in person to evaluate all works physically received for the competition.
From the complete pool of submissions, the jury will designate three major prizes:
First Prize
Second Prize
Third Prize
In addition, a Special Prize for a Cantabrian Artist will be awarded. This distinction is reserved for a participating artist who was either born in Cantabria or currently resides in the region and did not receive one of the main three prizes. This prize seeks to highlight and support the local graphic arts community.
Lastly, the jury will name the recipients of Honorary Mentions and Distinctions, recognizing artistic excellence beyond the top awards. All final decisions made by the jury are definitive. Notifications will be sent to the winners via email and results will also be published online at www.MiniPrintCantabria.es.
