“Eat This” is an open-call group exhibition organized by Kunstwerkt together with CC De Schakel in Waregem. For this show, every visual artist—regardless of background or experience—can participate without a selection process. Our shared theme is food, but in all its permutations: the neon glow of fast-food signage, the refined choreography of a chef’s tasting menu, the stacked alphabet of supermarket packaging, the modest nostalgia of a childhood breakfast, or the secret solace of a midnight snack. We ask simply: what does your canvas put on the table?

The symbolic and material power of food has long inspired artists:

• Andy Warhol reimagined a humble soup can as pop-art pulpit

• Vincent van Gogh depicted labor and sustenance in The Potato Eaters

• Sarah Lucas staged fried eggs as cheeky self-portraiture

• Marcel Broodthaers turned a mussel pot into poetic objecthood

• Cindy Wright photographed the messy beauty of her culinary remnants

Now, with “Eat This,” we invite you to continue that conversation. Whether your work is painterly or photographic, sculptural or multimedia, conceptual or visceral, show us the flavors, textures, and emotions you associate with the act of eating—or the refusal thereof. What fuels your creativity? What do you hunger for, or maybe even recoil from?

There’s no selection jury, no competitive hierarchy—just a collective table where every contribution is welcome. Bring your appetite for creativity and let’s turn the gallery into a banquet of ideas.
