In 2025, the Lahti International Poster Triennial will mark a significant milestone, celebrating its 50th anniversary. Since its inception in 1975, this prestigious graphic design competition and exhibition has been held every three years, and the upcoming event will be the 22nd edition to take place in the Finnish city of Lahti. As part of the triennial’s golden anniversary celebrations, we are introducing a special anniversary category that focuses on the theme of ‘freedom of expression.’ This vital human right, which is safeguarded in numerous countries around the world, faces increasing challenges and restrictions in many regions. The theme aims to spotlight the importance of preserving free speech as a cornerstone of democratic society and calls attention to the ongoing struggles faced by individuals and communities whose right to express themselves freely is under threat.
