The year 2025 will mark a momentous occasion for the Lahti International Poster Triennial, as it celebrates its 50th anniversary. Since its debut in 1975, the event has become one of the most important graphic design competitions and exhibitions worldwide, drawing designers, artists, and creative professionals to Lahti every three years. The upcoming triennial will be the 22nd time the event is held in the city, and to commemorate this half-century milestone, a special anniversary category has been introduced. The focus of this year's category will be the theme of ‘freedom of expression,’ a core human right that, while protected by law in many nations, continues to face threats and limitations in various parts of the globe. The theme serves as both a celebration of the right to speak freely and a call to action, urging designers to reflect on the importance of this freedom and raise awareness about the challenges it still faces today.
