Are you an artist with an idea you’ve always wanted to bring to life—but lacked the space or support to make it happen? Locust Projects is offering just that: an opportunity for local, national, and international artists to apply to exhibit new, large-scale, experimental artwork in our PROJECT ROOM, a dynamic 625 sq ft space dedicated to innovative artistic exploration.

This Open Call is designed to support the creation of ambitious new work that challenges the conventional limits of exhibition-making. Artists are invited to dream big, think beyond the usual gallery constraints, and propose projects that reflect bold conceptual thinking, fresh perspectives, or experimental techniques.

Proposals are carefully reviewed by a rotating jury of professionals who know what it’s like to be on both sides of the exhibition process: artists who have previously shown at Locust Projects and one invited local curator. The selection process is managed by Elizabeth Withstandley, one of the co-founders of Locust Projects. After the jury recommends a shortlist of top candidates, the Executive Director—who also serves as the lead curator—makes the final decision, curating the year’s programming for diversity, innovation, and balance.

Every year, about three-quarters of Locust Projects’ shows are selected directly from this Open Call. This means your work could be next. Whether you're from Miami or across the globe, if you’re ready to bring an original idea to life, we want to hear from you.
