Photographers are invited to take part by submitting one or more complete projects developed around a clearly defined theme, concept, or narrative direction. Projects may explore any subject matter and are open to a wide range of visual languages, from traditional documentary approaches to more experimental and conceptual practices. Each submitted project must consist of a coherent body of work comprising a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 20 photographs.
The main grant recipients will collectively receive €10,000 in prize money. This total will be distributed across three awards: a First Prize of €5,000, a Second Prize of €2,000, and a Third Prize of €1,000. In addition, the recipient of the New Generation Prize will be awarded a further €2,000 in recognition of emerging talent and innovative practice.
Beyond the cash prizes, selected photographers will be offered significant exhibition opportunities at leading international institutions and festivals. One award includes a solo exhibition at PhMuseum Lab in Bologna, Italy, to be presented during ArteFiera 2027, with all production costs covered, as well as travel and accommodation for the artist.
Furthermore, PhEST’s curatorial team will select one project for a solo exhibition during the 11th edition of the PhEST Festival, scheduled to take place in Monopoli, Italy, in August 2026. Additionally, Maria Ptqk, Head Curator of Getxophoto, will choose one project to be exhibited at the next edition of the Getxophoto Festival, held in Getxo, in the Basque Country of Spain, in June 2026. Alongside the exhibition production, the selected artist will receive an artist fee of €400 and accommodation for two nights during the festival’s Opening Week.
