The 15th Annual PleinAir Salon Art Competition is a prestigious event that unfolds throughout the year via 12 individual monthly online competitions. Each month, artists from around the world are invited to submit their best work in hopes of winning and securing a spot in the culminating annual competition. Those who are selected as monthly winners are automatically advanced to compete for top honors at the end of the year. In total, the competition distributes over $50,000 in awards annually, recognizing artistic excellence across a variety of styles and media.

Organized by PleinAir magazine—a publication that celebrates a wide range of representational art, including both plein air and studio work—the competition does not restrict submissions to plein air paintings unless artists are entering a category specifically designated for that genre. Recognizing that many plein air artists often refine their pieces in the studio, or create entirely different types of work beyond the plein air tradition, the competition welcomes high-quality paintings of all types. Above all, the PleinAir Salon is focused on acknowledging and rewarding outstanding artwork, regardless of where or how it was created.
