Siglufjörður’s deep-rooted connection to comics runs back nearly a century, as it proudly claims the title of being the birthplace of Icelandic comics publication. This distinction stems from the pioneering publishing house, Siglufjarðarprentsmiðja, which in the 1930s made literary history by printing the very first Icelandic-language comics. This groundbreaking achievement sparked a national enthusiasm for visual storytelling, a passion that remains strong across the country to this day.
