Tate Papers is excited to announce a forthcoming special issue that will delve into the rich terrain of ancestral knowledge and its transmission across generations through art. We are calling for submissions that reflect on how artists engage with matrilineal heritage, processes of rematriation, and the ways in which cultural memory and identity traverse borders and generations. This issue aims to reflect the museum’s wider interest in practices that centre female-led storytelling and knowledge-sharing traditions, honouring the often-unspoken ways that wisdom is passed from one generation to the next, particularly through women and their embodied experiences.
