For an upcoming special edition, Tate Papers welcomes proposals that explore the deep-rooted connections between ancestral knowledge and artistic expression, with a particular emphasis on how these forms of wisdom are transmitted across generations. Contributions might consider artistic engagements with matrilineal lineages, acts of rematriation, or the weaving of transnational historical narratives through creative practice. This issue will build on Tate’s broader institutional commitment to platforming artists whose work draws from and uplifts intergenerational, embodied knowledge—especially forms of inheritance and storytelling maintained and passed down by women.
