Following the triumphant success of its inaugural edition, Boomer Gallery cordially invites creatives from all visual arts disciplines to participate in the second iteration of the "Boomer Art Prize." We are eagerly anticipating the diverse perspectives and innovative visions that artists from across the globe will bring to this prestigious platform.

Remaining steadfast in our commitment to acknowledging, promoting, and nurturing excellence in the expansive realm of art, Boomer Gallery extends an invitation to local and international artists alike to exhibit their craft.

Participation in the Boomer Art Prize offers artists more than mere potential winnings and exhibition prospects. It grants invaluable exposure, with all submissions evaluated by a jury comprising esteemed figures from the art world.

AWARDS & PRIZES

Successful applicants will receive £10,000 in cash awards, along with exhibition opportunities in our iconic gallery space near Tower Bridge, London.

1st place – £5,000 + inclusion in three of our group shows. Additionally, the winner will be invited to London for an interview by Anthony Fawcett, former curator to John Lennon and Yoko Ono. This exclusive interview will be featured in the esteemed “Anthony Fawcett Archive,” joining the ranks of iconic artists like Francis Bacon, David Hockney, Jean Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol, and others from his illustrious 50-year career. The interview will be filmed in our London gallery space by an award-winning documentary filmmaker. Furthermore, all travel costs and accommodation expenses will be covered. 2nd place – £3,000 + inclusion in two of our group shows. 3rd place – £2,000 + inclusion in one of our group shows. Artists ranking 4th to 20th will also be featured in one of the group shows. Valuing Every Artist: We deeply appreciate the effort and passion behind every submission. To honor this, each participant, irrespective of the outcome, will receive a certificate of participation in “The Boomer Art Prize” as a token of our gratitude for sharing their artistry with us. A jury of experts, composed of leading minds in contemporary art, will evaluate, review, and score each application:

Anthony Fawcett: Esteemed art critic and historian known for extensive collaborations with globally-renowned artists, including Jean Michel Basquiat, John Lennon, Yoko Ono, and Andy Warhol. He guides the “Anthony Fawcett Archive” project with the Tate Gallery. Tabish Khan: Art critic specializing in London’s art scene, visual arts editor for Londonist, contributor to Culture Whisper, and writer for FAD’s “What’s Wrong With Art?” series. He supports artists through trustee roles at ArtCan and City & Guilds London Art School. Jo McLaughlin: London-based curator, art historian, and podcaster, presently Senior Curator at Acrylicize. Her career, starting in regional auction houses, encompasses work at Pangolin London and curating shows like Breon O’Casey: The World Beyond. With the aim to democratize art, Jo hosts the top-rated Jo’s Art History Podcast. Constantin Cosmin: Internationally acclaimed visual artist and Boomer Gallery co-founder. As an editor at Boomer Magazine and a featured artist on Artsy, Constantin offers a unique perspective, drawing from extensive firsthand experience in the art world. What is the Selection Process?

  1. Each submission will be individually reviewed, and from the total submissions, the jury will preselect 50 artists, who will also be shortlisted on our website.

  2. After the preselection process, the jury will convene to select the final 20 winners.

GENERAL INFO

Artists from any country, age group, and background are welcome to apply. Each artist submitting to this competition will receive a participation certificate via email. Previous applicants are encouraged to reapply. Works previously exhibited or published are accepted. There are no thematic restrictions. 2D works should not exceed 230×230 cm. 3D works (sculptures, installations) should not exceed 230 cm in height and 150 cm in width on any side. Artists can submit a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 7 works. Cash awards will be disbursed to winners within 48 hours post-vote validation. All 20 winners will receive individual notifications regarding exhibition dates, delivery, and other necessary details. The interview with Anthony is scheduled for May 2024, with exact dates mutually agreed upon between the gallery and the 1st place winner. The group show is planned for April 2024. All winners will receive individual notifications at least three weeks in advance, as mentioned earlier. Should any winner wish to attend the show in person but face visa restrictions, we will provide a stamped and signed letter of recommendation from both the gallery and the esteemed judges of this competition. For a nominal fee of only £35, artists can submit three works to the Boomer Art Prize. Recognizing the value of artistic contributions, we aim to ensure accessibility for all passionate artists. Additional works beyond the initial three carry a minimal fee of just £10 each. Rest assured, every penny from the submission fee supports administrative costs, making this grand event possible.

IMPORTANT DATES

The open call runs from November 28th, 2023, to March 2nd, 2024. The 50 preselected artists will be listed on our website on March 10th, 2024. On March 14th, 2024, the jury will reconvene to select the 20 competition winners. The final results will be available on our website on March 18th, 2024. SUBMISSION INFO

Eligible media include but are not limited to: paintings, sculptures, photography, installations, prints, textiles, illustrations, digital art, poems, video art, AI-assisted art, etc.
