What trajectory is contemporary art taking? Does the word “contemporary” still capture its scope, or are we witnessing the dawn of a new era?
The landscape of art is undergoing transformation. With the rise of digital platforms and social networks, artists are reclaiming agency over the distribution and reception of their work. This decentralisation has allowed diverse voices to enter the conversation, altering not just the market but the cultural fabric of art itself.
The pressing questions remain: how will established traditions interact with radical new practices, what artistic forms will define the future, and what will be left behind? To examine these questions, we turn to Dr Jean Wainwright, one of the foremost experts on Andy Warhol and a leading figure in contemporary art history.
On 10 October, Dr Wainwright will deliver a keynote address on the theme of our exhibition, offering perspectives grounded in decades of scholarship and over 2,000 artist interviews.
Her contributions to the field are vast: publications, curatorial projects such as Gestures of Resistance and Ship to Shore, and exhibitions like Andy Warhol: My True Story (2025). Beyond her expertise on Warhol, she is an advocate for emerging voices, ensuring that the discourse on art remains globally relevant and inclusive.
Our exhibition, New Voices, embodies this philosophy. It is a space where generational legacies meet experimental practices, where innovation is amplified, and where the future of contemporary art is actively reshaped.
Situated in London’s Tower Bridge district — a site of constant flow and exchange, with over five million visitors each month — our gallery offers a fitting environment for this dialogue between past and future.
