Somewhere between the skin and the spirit lies a truth we spend our lives chasing: identity. Not a destination, but a constellation—ever-shifting—made of memory, culture, longing, wounds, and dreams. It’s a mask we wear, and a mirror we hold. A stage and a secret.
For many artists, creation is an act of unearthing—sifting through stories passed down, roles imposed, myths believed. Through their work, they ask: Who am I when no one sees me? And: Who am I when the world is watching?
Some discover clarity in the act of making. With brush or thread, clay or code, they shape themselves into something familiar—sometimes for the first time. Their art whispers: This is me. Or at least, who I am today.
Others linger in the ambiguity, not just wondering who they are, but what “identity” even is. For them, art is resistance. A refusal to be reduced or confined. They assemble themselves in fragments, contradictions, and questions. Their work hums with complexity, with the rawness of becoming.
And then there are those whose very existence has been denied, ignored, erased. For them, creation is defiance. It is healing. It is presence. Their work declares: I am here.
This exhibition is a gathering place for these voices—searching, certain, scattered, strong. We invite artists to explore the intimate, shifting terrains of identity. To challenge, honor, dismantle, and reimagine. To share the stories that shape them. And in doing so, help others see a part of themselves too.
