We are living through a fascinating and unpredictable chapter in the history of art. Never before have artists had such a vast array of tools at their disposal. With the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence and digital media, it’s now possible to craft elaborate compositions with just a few keystrokes. And yet, as these technologies accelerate, there’s also a strong movement to reinvest in traditional, hands-on practices—refining, reclaiming, and expanding them in innovative ways.
This convergence of the old and the new raises compelling questions. What happens when centuries-old artistic practices collide with cutting-edge technology? Will one eclipse the other—or will they find a way to coexist, perhaps even thrive together?
These questions are more than theoretical—they're urgent. In an art world full of noise, opportunity, and uncertainty, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. Many of us are left wondering: what direction is this all heading? What will art look like in the years to come?
Rather than provide definitive answers, VOGUED offers a space to ask better questions. This edition is an open invitation for artists to reflect on this transitional moment—to interpret it, critique it, or engage with it in whatever way feels true to their vision.
To help launch this conversation, we are honored to welcome Mr. Tabish Khan as our Guest of Honour. He will open the exhibition on August 8th, offering a keynote that explores the exhibition theme with the insight and depth that have made him one of the most respected voices in the art world today.
Tabish Khan is more than an art critic—he’s an advocate for accessible, engaging, and inclusive art. As Visual Arts Editor at Londonist and a frequent contributor to Culture Whisper, he brings thoughtful perspectives to wide audiences. His column “What’s Wrong with Art” on FAD challenges conventions and highlights often-overlooked issues in the creative community. Beyond journalism, Tabish plays an active role in supporting the next generation of artists as a trustee of ArtCan, City & Guilds London Art School, and Discerning Eye.
