The Homiens Art Prize was created with a simple but ambitious goal: to help artists gain the recognition, support, and opportunities they deserve. Whether you are at the beginning of your creative journey or have spent decades developing your practice, the prize offers a welcoming and professional environment in which your work can be seen, appreciated, and celebrated.
The competition is open to artists from all backgrounds, locations, and career stages. Homiens embraces the full diversity of contemporary artistic practice, accepting submissions in photography, painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, installation, mixed media, video, and virtually every other visual art form. There are no thematic constraints, allowing artists complete freedom to submit work that reflects their interests, ideas, and personal creative direction. Likewise, there are no restrictions regarding artwork size or date of completion.
Every competition round recognizes a substantial number of artists. Three winners receive top honors, while twelve finalists and up to two hundred highly commended artists are also acknowledged for the quality of their work. This broad recognition structure ensures that many deserving artists benefit from exposure and professional visibility rather than limiting opportunities to only a handful of recipients.
The Homiens Art Prize awards more than $12,000 USD annually and has become an important source of support for artists around the world. Yet the impact of the prize extends far beyond financial awards. Participants become part of a wider creative community and gain access to promotional opportunities that can help expand their audience and strengthen their professional profile.
Selected artists may be featured in curated exhibitions, artist interviews, editorial projects, and promotional campaigns designed to introduce their work to collectors, curators, institutions, and art enthusiasts worldwide. These initiatives are intended to create meaningful engagement with audiences and to help artists build lasting professional relationships.
Because Homiens believes artistic opportunity should be accessible to all, a limited number of free submissions are offered during each competition cycle. This initiative reflects the organization's commitment to reducing barriers to participation and ensuring that talent, creativity, and artistic merit remain at the center of the selection process.
